MC Sports said Rob Summerfield, VP of finance, and Dan Winchester, chief merchandising officer, have been elected to its board of directors. Summerfield has also been appointed secretary of the company.

“MC Sports is fortunate to have such a talented and experienced management team,” stated Bruce Ullery, president and CEO. “The addition of Rob and Dan to the board insures our strategic direction is clearly defined and we remain focused on what is best for our company, our associates and our customers.”

Summerfield joined MC Sports in 1988. He served in a number of key account positions before eventually being promoted to controller in 2003 and VP of finance in 2008. In 2010, he assumed the additional responsibility for the company's information technology.

“Rob was instrumental in recently securing a 5-year extension of our $60 million facility with GE Capital,” said Ullery. “With over 22 years accounting experience in the sporting goods industry, Rob is uniquely positioned to provide the financial oversight and direction that's critical to remaining a profitable and competitive retailer with this industry.”

Winchester joined the company in 1986. He served in a number of positions in both operations and merchandising. In 2003, he was appointed to chief merchandise officer and in 2010, Winchester assumed the additional responsibility for the company's distribution center and supply chain.

“Through Dan's leadership, MC has experienced tremendous gains in both sales and inventory control,” said Ullery. “Expanding Dan's role will ensure consistency in our strategy efforts, accelerating the implementation of our business improvement strategies.”
