According to Golf DataTech, golf rounds played on a national level were up 0.9 percent during May 2014 compared to May 2013. Public access play was up 0.6 percent and private course activity was up 2.2 percent.

By region, the biggest gain came in West North Central, up 14.4 percent. Other regions seeing gains included South Atlantic, ahead 1.6 percent; and South Central, up 1.5 percent. Declines were seen in Pacific, down 2.5 percent; Mountain, 0.3 percent; Mid Atlantic, 1.7 percent; and New England, 2.0 percent.
