Maverik Lacrosse announced that former University of North Carolina standout Billy Bitter, a three-time All-American selection, and 2010 ACC Player of the Year is the newest addition to its roster of elite lacrosse athletes.  Bitter, who was selected third overall in the 2011 MLL draft by the Denver Outlaws, will assist in the design and development of Maverik’s next generation of equipment and represent Maverik at clinics and tournaments across the country.

“Maverik is one of the fastest growing lacrosse companies in the world and we have several top lacrosse players in the game representing and developing our products” said John Gagliardi, president and founder of Maverik Lacrosse. “Billy is an outstanding addition to our company. We are thrilled to have him help grow both our brand and the game at the grassroots level.”

A native of Manhasset, N.Y., Bitter has been on a fast track to lacrosse success since his playing days at Manhasset High School, where he earned All-America honors as a senior.  Prior to joining UNC in 2008, Bitter spent a post-graduate year at the prestigious Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass. before making his mark with the Tar Heals.  Bitter started every game during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons at UNC and totaled 99 goals and 76 assists with 172 ground balls in 63 career games. Bitter was a first-team All-America selection his sophomore and junior season and was second-team All-America selection this season.

“I am honored to be joining such an innovative and fast growing company like Maverik,” Bitter said.  “Ive always admired Maverik’s products and to have the opportunity to help them build their brand is a privilege.”
