Mathews Archery, based in Sparta, WI, officially transitioned to employee ownership as it reaches its 35th year in business.

“From the beginning, I’ve always believed that people come first, and business comes second,” said Matt McPherson, founder, CEO and chief engineer. “Take care of people, give them the opportunity to do something meaningful, and the business will take care of itself. Becoming employee-owned is a natural extension of that belief and gives the people who have poured so much into Mathews the opportunity to share in its future success.”

The transition to employee ownership will not change the company’s day-to-day operations, leadership or commitment to its retailers and customers. McPherson will continue to serve as CEO and chief engineer, working alongside the existing Mathews leadership team.

“Over the years, we’ve built an exceptional team and put the systems and processes in place to position Mathews for an even bigger future,” McPherson said. “This is about protecting what makes Mathews special while putting the future of the company in the hands of the people who helped build it. I love this company, and I’m as passionate as ever about what we’re building together.”
