Manchester United reported revenues from its Retail, Merchandising, Apparel & Product Licensing (RMA&PL) operations declined 12.3 percent to £9.3 million ($11.7 mm), in the fourth quarter ended June 30. The team blamed the decline on a shift in Nikes focus on sales of national team products leading up to the World Cup.

RMA&PL revenues were off 2.8 percent for the full fiscal year, reaching £37.5 million ($47.2 mm), even as Manchester Uniteds broadcasting and sponsorship revenues soared.

Manchester United announced in June that it had sold the right to manage the RMA&PL business to Adidas for 10 years for £750 million, or nearly $1.3 billion at todays exchange rate. Adidas will take the business on Aug. 1, 2015.
