Macy's, Inc. reported total sales of $2.23 billion for
the five weeks ended July 3, 2010, an increase of 9.0%
compared
with total sales of $2.044 billion in the five weeks ended July 4,
2009.
On a same-store basis, Macy's, Inc. sales were up 6.5% in
June.

“We are pleased with our sales in June. They reflect continued
progress
in implementation of our strategies, particularly My Macy's
localization
and the increased effectiveness and efficiency of our unified
national
organization. We remain on track in our drive for sales and market
share
growth, improved earnings and strong cash flow,” said Terry J.
Lundgren,
chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy's, Inc.
“While
various calendar shifts complicate month-by-month sales
comparisons, it
is important to note that Macy's, Inc.'s same-store sales in
May/June
combined, plus the Sunday and Monday of Independence Day weekend,
were
up approximately 5 percent over the prior year. This is consistent
with
our year-to-date trend. We are optimistic as we look ahead to our
fall
merchandise offerings, including the early August introduction of
the
new Material Girl juniors brand exclusively at Macy's.”

For the year to date, Macy's, Inc.'s sales totaled $9.589 billion, up

6.7% from total sales of $8.987 billion in the first 22
weeks of
2009. On a same-store basis, Macy's, Inc.'s year-to-date sales
were up
4.9%.

Online sales (macys.com and bloomingdales.com combined) were up 37.6% in June 2010 and 32.5%for the year to date. Online
sales
are included in the same-store sales calculation for Macy's, Inc.

Macy's, Inc. expects same-store sales for the second quarter of 2010
to
be approximately 4.5% ahead of last year. The company also
continues to
expect same-store sales in the full-year 2010 to be up by 3% to
3.5%.
