Ladies Professional Golf Association named Nancy Henderson as executive director of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals (T&CP), a new position. Henderson will begin work on March 7 with the LPGA T&CP Executive Committee to develop innovative programs that support the work of the LPGA and reflect the overall LPGA T&CP Strategic Action Plan. She will provide strategic vision and executive leadership for the LPGA T&CP, including its three strategic initiatives: to increase membership; to increase membership awareness; and to maintain fiscal responsibility through its educational and tournament opportunities. She also will manage the overall administration of the day-to-day affairs and staff of the LPGA T&CP.
“Nancy has worked closely with the LPGA in her role as general manager of LPGA International and as an LPGA T&CP member. She will be a valuable addition to the LPGA staff,” said Bivens. “As the business of the LPGA T&CP grows, the establishment of this position will help us better maximize the opportunities of the LPGA T&CP. Nancy has distinguished herself throughout her professional career. Her combination of experience in the world of golf, business, teaching and leadership will be applied in this new position.”
Since 2001, Henderson has served as director of golf and general manager of LPGA International, the LPGA's home course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Under her direction, the 39-hole, semi-private LPGA International facility (two 18-hole championship courses and a three-hole practice facility) has hosted numerous LPGA events such as the annual LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament each fall, the 2000 Arch Wireless Tournament of Champions and the 2003 and 2004 LPGA T&CP National Championships. She manages all aspects of the daily operations and management of the entire golf complex, including clubhouse operations, food and beverage, golf course maintenance, marketing and public relations. Prior to that, she worked at Orange Lake Resort and Country Club in Kissimmee, Fla. (1991-99), where she held the position of director of golf from 1995-99.
Henderson has received numerous honors in her career, including: 2001 LPGA T&CP National Professional of the Year; 1994 and 2001 LPGA T&CP Southeast Section Professional of the Year; 2003 LPGA T&CP Section Player of the Year; the 1998 Gold American Resort Development Association Award (ARDA), Department Manager; and the 1996 Silver ARDA Award, Guest Service.
Henderson is a 1988 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas where she was a four-year member of the women's golf team.
