Lowa Boots LLC will open its second demo center in the United States at the Mohican Outdoor Center located in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area close to the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey.

The German boot maker partnered with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) last year to open it first U.S. demo center at the Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch, NH.  That program fitted hundreds of hikers in Lowa boots for no charge demos.

The demo centers offer a network of nearby trails that lets city dwellers and suburban enthusiasts take advantage of accessible, affordable and beautiful places to hike and enjoy other outdoor activities. The Mohican Outdoor Center program officially just opened and the Joe Dodge Lodge will open on Memorial Day week-end.  Both Demo Centers will operate through the Columbus Day holiday.

The Demo Centers allow potential Lowa consumers to try before they buy, commented Peter Sachs, general manager of Lowa in the U.S.  Our goal is to help everyone realize the benefit and enjoyment of top quality footwear designed for specific terrain as opposed to everyday-casual or basketball-type shoes frequently seen on the trails.  Based on the Demo Centers success last year in New Hampshire, we know it works.

Demo Center employees are receiving training from Lowa so that they are prepared to help hikers choose between three mens, three ladies and one junior model. Lowa encourages the employees to try different models themselves so that they can give advice based on real life knowledge.

The Mohican Outdoor Center is located just a 90-minute drive from New York City and less than three hours from Philadelphia in Blairstown, NJ. It is surrounded by 6,000 acres of Mohican State Forest and borders Pleasant Hill Lake.
