Lou Holtz will be the keynote speaker at the 42nd Annual NSGA Management Conference & 8th Annual Team Dealer Summit in San Antonio, Tx. Holtz will address more than 400 sporting goods industry leaders at the Conference/Summit’s opening session Monday, May 22, 2006. Holtz’ appearance is made possible courtesy of K2, Inc.

Holtz, who currently serves as a college football studio analyst on ESPN, is the only coach in the history of college football to take six different schools to a bowl game, win bowl games at five different universities and have four different college teams ranked in the final top 20 poll. His 1988 Notre Dame team won the National Championship. His overall coaching record of 243-127-7 ranked him third among active coaches (prior to his retirement after last season) and eighth in winning percentage. His 12 career postseason bowl victories ranked him fifth on the all-time list.

For many years, Holtz has been considered among the greatest speakers in America. He speaks on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by setting your own goals and working to achieve them.

For 26 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Holtz earned a reputation for turning pretenders into contenders – for taking football programs and elevating them a level or two on their way to the top 20.

He is the author of the New York Times best-selling book The Fighting Spirit, which chronicled Notre Dame’s 1988 championship season. His other books include the best-selling Winning Everyday: A game Plan For Success, and A Teen’s Game Plan for Life.

“We’re thrilled that Coach Holtz is going to be our keynote speaker,” said NSGA Chairman of the Board Ron Kruse, President of Hayden’s Athletic. “He is a dynamic speaker and will help get the Conference & Summit off to a rousing start.”
