The 2013 L.L.Bean Bootmobile Outdoor Discovery Tour comes to Philadelphia this summer with a visit to Love Park and the first-ever “Outdoor Discovery Day” at Pleasant Hill Park in partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.
The Bootmobile, a larger-than-life sized vehicle in the form of the famous Bean Boot, will visit Love Park on Friday, July 12, to encourage families to come discover a new outdoor activity at Outdoor Discovery Day on Saturday, July 13. Outdoor Discovery Day is part of a summer-long effort by L.L.Bean to inspire families to spend more time outdoors and provide an opportunity to try a new outdoor activity.

Experts from L.L.Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will be on hand to teach fundamentals of fly casting, fishing, geocaching, lawn games, camping basics, and lots of fun outdoor activities for the whole family.

A survey conducted by L.L.Bean and the National Park Foundation found that 60 percent of parents say their children spend less than an hour a day outdoors. The goal of the Outdoor Discovery Tour is to encourage young people to enjoy the lifelong benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.
