L.L. Bean has paid out slightly more than $1 million in cash bonuses to 5,000 full- and part-time employees in recognition of its best spring/summer since 2008, according to a reported in the Bangor Daily News.


L.L. Bean sales from the March to August period grew 3 percent over the same period in 2012 and reached their highest level in five years, according to the report.


Rewards ranged from $35 to $185 depending on the employee’s tenure, according to the report, which quoted L.L. Bean Spokeswoman Carolyn Beem.


L.L. Bean announced in March its plan to pay out a 7.5 percent performance bonus to reward employees for the company’s fiscal 2013 performance. L.L. Bean reported sales of $1.52 billion for the fiscal year ended Feb. 23, 2013.
