Liv helped raised more than $550,000 for young women diagnosed with breast cancer – and its profile – over the weekend when NBC Today Show News Anchor Natalie Morales rode along during the last day of a fundraising ride for a segment that aired Monday morning.

On Sunday Sept. 21, more than 200 cyclists rolled onto Assateague Island, MD, after completing a three-day, 245-mile charity ride raising funds and awareness for young women affected by breast cancer.  The annual YSC Tour de Pink East Coast bike ride raised more than $550,000 for Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women diagnosed with breast cancer.  Fifty of the cyclists who tackled the ride are breast cancer survivors who, in some cases, are just weeks or months since undergoing treatment.

The ride began on Friday, September 19, in Philadelphia.  Saturdays Day 2 ride rolled out of Dover, DE, and covered 101 miles to Salisbury, MD.  Pedaling alongside the riders that day was Natalie Morales, News Anchor of NBCs Today Show.

A video crew accompanied the journalist as Morales interviewed Elysa Walk, Giant USA General Manager, and Rena Kyles, a breast cancer survivor from Green Bay, WI.  Liv, the global womens cycling brand from Giant, has long supported YSC and the annual YSC Tour de Pink East and West Coast rides.  For the past three years, Liv and YSC have sponsored contests open to breast cancer survivors to design a limited edition Liv Avail Inspire bicycle.  Rena Kyles won the contest this year and rode her Avail Inspire in the Tour de Pink East.

A of Saturdays Tour de Pink East Coast 101-mile segment aired on The Today Show on Monday, September 22.  A longer feature story from Morales is scheduled to air in the programs 9:00 am hour on Tuesday, October 14 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I had the privilege of cycling alongside these amazing women, hearing their stories, and reconnecting with old friends from past years rides, said Elysa Walk, General Manager of Giant USA, seen riding alongside Morales to the right. Livs support of YSC and the Tour de Pink goes to the core of our brands belief: through cycling, you discover a world of new possibilities. Training for the Tour de Pink has helped them recover and become stronger. Everyone at Liv and Giant is inspired by them.
Giant created Liv as a stand-alone brand in 2013 to make cycling more approachable and appealing so that it can become a mainstream sport and fitness activity among women. In addition to premium bicycles, Liv offers cycling apparel.
