Leki USA announced they will officially turn over management of the company's Canadian business to independent distributor AMH Sports, Inc. of Montreal beginning Jan. 1, 2011. AMH Sports, led by long-standing Leki sales rep Michel Hébert, will handle all aspects of Leki's Canadian sales and servicing.

Leki USA has been in charge of distribution in Canada for the past 15 years and although growth in the country has been substantial over the past eight to 10 years, Vice President Greg Wozer believes the impending transition is best for the brand.

Said Wozer, “Despite our best efforts to cater to those retailers as we would our own, there were always some cross-border challenges that were out of our control. Turning the Canadian business over to Michel and AMH Sports is like turning it over to family. LEKI Canada will be in very capable hands.”

Michel Hébert founded AMH Sports, located in the Ville de Boisbriand area of Montreal, 19 years ago after working as a sales representative in the sporting goods industry for seven years.  Hébert has established a highly experienced, service oriented team which has made AMH Sports a leader in the industry. The AMH Sports facility in Montreal houses a showroom as well as warehouse facilities, and in addition to LEKI, the company also handles distribution for several overseas and local companies including Alpina International and Eurosocks International.

“The dealers are happy with this transition and their response to the new pricing has been dramatic,” says Hébert. “Greg and his team have done a great job setting us up for success, and we are proud to be taking on such a well respected and quality brand under the AMH Sports business model.”
