LED Lenser USA rushed donations of LED flashlights to the Red Cross in New Jersey to help victims recovering in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“Not only were some of these towns extremely hard hit, they were without power; a basic necessity to even begin to recover,” said Vice President of Marketing, Roger Bjorklund. “They shouldn’t have to think about light in a time like this. They should just have access to it.” After speaking with Red Cross representatives in the region, it was decided lights should be sent to New Jersey, one of the hardest hit areas.

“We are grateful for and appreciate the community spirit that Leatherman has demonstrated with this donation. It will literally bring light to hundreds of families that have been without power for days,” said Cindy Silveira, Chief Development Officer for Oregon Red Cross.

Leatherman Tool Group, parent company of LED Lenser USA, has a long history of donation to disaster recovery and re-building efforts; sending both supplies and volunteers here in the United States and abroad. “Our brand promise is to prepare people for the expected and the unexpected,” said Bjorklund. “To deliver on this promise, especially to people in these kinds of emergency situationsÂ… sending these lights was just the right thing to do.”
