Leatherman Tool Group, Inc., appointed Charles Calvin to vice president of manufacturing of Leatherman Tool. Calvin will be located at the Portland, OR manufacturing headquarters and report to Leatherman Tool President, Ben Rivera.



Calvin has been with Leatherman for five years and played a key role in many of the company’s strategic decisions regarding the manufacturing process and flow; including the implementation of automation and lean practices. Calvin has an extensive background in the automotive industry as well as a BSME from Michigan State University and a Masters in Manufacturing from University of Michigan.


“Manufacturing is a cornerstone of our culture at Leatherman and Charlie has played an integral role in the installation of our lean principles,” said Rivera. “We will continue to look to him to drive toward greater efficiencies while maintaining and improving the quality and product differentiation that allow us to be competitive from Oregon.”


In this role, Calvin will be responsible for leading the entire manufacturing operation as well as, capacity planning, supply management, quality, facilities/maintenance, and the Tool and Die Shop.
