L.L. Bean plans to open its fourth Illinois store in Naperville and its first location in Nebraska, in Omaha. The company said the Naperville store, taking over a spot formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond, is expected to open at Westridge Court this October.

Jason Sulham, manager of public affairs at L.L.Bean, told NCTV17 that Naperville was chosen for its location because it has a strong customer base in the region.

“We have a strong customer base in the region and want to meet our customers where they are so they can enjoy the in-store shopping experience L.L.Bean is known for,” he said. “Naperville is also a gateway to the outdoors, providing an opportunity to connect with new customers who embrace the outdoor lifestyle.”

L.L. Bean also has a store in Oak Brook, IL. Skokie and South Barrington.

In Omaha, L.L. Bean signed a lease to open a 15,000-square-foot store at Avenue One, a mixed-use development under construction along the Dodge Expressway in West Omaha. The announcement was made by Jasper Stone Partners, which is overseeing leasing for the property, and Poag Shopping Centers, which is serving as retail developer.

L.L.Bean joins a roster of previously announced tenants, including Arhaus, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill, and Barnes & Noble, with additional tenant announcements expected as leasing progresses.

“The addition of L.L.Bean reflects the caliber of brands being drawn to Avenue One and the strong alignment between our vision and today’s leading lifestyle retailers,” said Jeffrey Hofer, Asset and Development Manager at Jasper Stone Partners. “As construction progresses and the site continues to take shape, we’re seeing strong momentum from national brands seeking a presence in West Omaha.”

The more than 200-acre Avenue One development is expected to open in 2027.

In December 2025, L.L.Bean announced plans to open eight stores in 2026, including its first locations in Alabama and Tennessee. At the time, the retailer further said it intends to add eight to 10 storefronts in 2027, including new markets in the Midwest and Southeast. At the close of 2025, L.L.Bean operated 68 stores in 19 states across the United States, along with 18 stores in Japan and 16 stores in Canada, in partnership with Jaytex Group.
