KEEN announced their inaugural sponsorship of the 2009 ICF Freestyle World Kayaking Championships, in Thun, Switzerland.

Taking place from Aug 31st – September 6th, this event draws Kayakers from over 25 different countries worldwide, with 20-30,000 people expected to attend. Complementing KEEN’s commitment to sustainability and the environment, the event has a distinctive ecological theme being entirely run off hydro and solar power, with the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) present all week who will be holding outdoor nature classes and kids workshops. In addition to the action on the wave, visitors and athletes will also be able to enjoy a diverse festival experience throughout the event with a range of side stalls and other attractions throughout the week including alternative surf and big air challenges as well as concerts, films and recitals.

The KEEN team will be on site all week at their hybrid.tent offering a variety of attractions and events including games, meet and greets and product demos with special prizes and give-aways. In addition to shoes, t-shirts and giveaways up for grabs, on Friday 4th September, KEEN will be hosting a fundraiser between 1 and 3pm, where the first 50 people to make a 10 Euro donation will receive an excusive KEEN harvest Marshall wallet or for a 5 Euro donation a natty KEEN Newport key-chain. All funds raised will go to co-sponsors the WWF. Visitors pitching up to the stand will also be able to get a chance to meet headline extreme outdoor athlete, Ueli Kestenholtz, KEEN brand ambassador who will be showing off his legendary skills throughout the event.
