According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds played in the U.S. were down 5.1% in July compared to July 2009 and down 3.3% on a YTD basis.
 
Public access play was down 5.2% for the month and private course activity was down 5.0%.  A total of 3660 courses are represented in this report.

By region for the month, the biggest decline came in East North Central, down 8.4%. That was followed by South Atlantic, down 7.9%; West North Central, 7.5%; South Central, 6.1%; Mountain, 2.2%; Mid Atlantic, 1.8%; and Pacific, 0.9%. The only positive region was New England, up 4.1%.
