Genesco, Inc., the parent of Journeys, Schuh, Johnston & Murphy, and other footwear brands, is undergoing a strategic transformation of its information technology (IT) operations, introducing to a new business model to “improve speed and scalability, accelerate AI-enabled innovation and automation and more closely align technology capabilities with the company’s evolving business priorities.”

The new structure is intended to support Genesco’s long-term growth strategy while improving operational efficiencies across the company.

“Following a comprehensive review, we made the strategic decision to evolve our IT operating model to further strengthen our capabilities, expertise, scale, and efficiency,” said Genesco Board Chair, President and CEO Mimi Vaughn. “This transformation builds on the meaningful investments and progress we have made in digital and omni-channel and enables us to more effectively leverage advanced technologies. By aligning our resources to a next-generation model, we are enhancing our ability to serve customers, increasing speed and flexibility across the organization, and supporting the company’s continued growth.”

To support the new operating model, Genesco has partnered with a global technology provider and is adopting new tools and ways of working.

The company expects to implement the new operating model in phases, and some positions within its IT organization will be affected. However, the company “is committed to supporting affected team members through the transition.”
