JD (John David) Sports Fashions Plc, the U.K.’s third-largest sporting-goods retailer, said same-store sales declined 1% in the last 11 weeks since Sept. 13, reducing the gain for the first 43 weeks of the fiscal year to 4%. JD said the performance wasn’t unexpected “given last year’s very strong comparatives in the sports fascias” and it “remains confident” that profit before tax and one-time items for the year will meet “current market expectations.”

Same-store sales fell 1.8% in the main sports-store division during the 11-week period, and rose 3.3% in the fashion unit, including an 8.7 percent gain at the Bank chain.
