Intertek, a global quality assurance and testing firm based in London, opened a Bentonville Footwear Center of Excellence in Bentonville, AR, the headquarters of Walmart.
Adding to 23 consumer products sites in the US, the new facility’s suite of footwear testing capabilities will “bring quality assurance closer to U.S. operations, improving efficiency, reducing lead times, and ensuring quality, safety and sustainability across every stage of the product lifecycle,” said Intertek in a media release.
The company hosted an opening event that brought together Intertek leadership and industry stakeholders, including Michael McCranie, who represented the City of Bentonville and shared a letter of congratulations from Mayor Stephanie Orman, as well as Brandom Gengelbach, president and CEO of the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce.
Sandeep Das, Intertek’s CEO of Greater China and president of global softlines and hardlines, addressed the event attendees, saying, “Intertek has always been a pioneer in innovation, and this facility is equipped with the latest machines connected to our digital laboratory information management system. This seamless integration of data further strengthens Intertek’s critical role in collaboration with retailers and the global footwear ecosystem.”
