Interbike, the largest cycling trade show and outdoor demo event in North America, has named Pat Hus as the show’s managing director effective June 1. In this newly created leadership role, Hus will work closely with Show Director Andy Tompkins, and the entire Interbike team to evolve both the brand and show in an effort to expand its reach and role within the industry.

“Interbike is much more than just a trade show in Las Vegas in September in my mind,” said Hus. “It’s really the hub of the market. With consistently solid attendance levels and the huge interest from the media, Interbike is truly the global center of the cycling world each September. Im looking forward to working with Andy and the team to create an even more relevant and compelling event going forward. Additionally Im excited to start exploring new avenues to expand Interbike’s role in the industry. There are a number of challenges facing the bicycle market right now, but there is even more opportunity out there. It’s going to require a lot of listening and a lot of creativity. I cant wait to roll up my sleeves and get started.”

Hus brings a wealth of industry experience to the team with a 30-year career that has included executive level positions at Cannondale Bicycle Corporation, American Bicycle Group, Titus Cycles and, most recently, Easton-Bell Sports. With strong relationships on both the retail and supply side of the business, Hus hopes to bring the two groups closer together through the show and other new vehicles.

“We felt strongly that we needed a cycling industry veteran like Pat on the team to lead Interbike to the next level,” commented David Loechner, president of Nielsen Expositions. “Pat’s experience from the supply side and his deep relationships throughout the industry will complement Andy’s show experience and will form a very powerful partnership for Interbike. Interbike is the most important event for Western Hemisphere suppliers and dealers and we are dedicated to growing the value of the brand for the entire industry.”

In addition the company recently hired Elayna Caldwell, previously the marketing manager at Fox Racing Shox, to fill the newly created Marketing Director position, and long-time employee Rich Kelly was promoted to Brand and Communications Director (Click here for release).
