Icebug Footwear appointed Evan Wert as North American director of sales and marketing, for both Icebug Footwear and ArchFlex Insoles.

Wert will be charged with bolstering the Swedish brand's image in North America as Icebug restructures North American operations and begins distributing their proprietary traction footwear and ArchFlex Insoles.

Wert joins Icebug after a 30-year career in the footwear and outdoor industries, which includes opening one of the first custom ski boot fitting shops, in Breckenridge, CO, in 1983. Since then, Wert has spent his time in both the retail and manufacturing sides of the footwear industry, nurturing relationships, building and executing retail and marketing strategies.

“We are pleased to have Evan join our team at Icebug,” said David Ekelund, Icebug CEO. “His depth of experience and understanding of the foot and footwear business are great assets. Combined with his retail experience, Evan will be the leading edge of our North American efforts for Icebug.”

At ORWM ‘12, Wert witnessed his longtime friend and current North American training and events manager, Gary Richter, walking effortlessly across the frozen Salt Lake City sidewalks and was intrigued. He later found Richter in the Icebug booth who extolled the benefits of Icebug’s BugGrip technology and carbide steel studs. After that, and trying a pair of ArchFlex Insoles, he was hooked.

“When I saw Gary that day, I knew Icebug had something special,” said Wert. “I am very excited to help share the gift of all-season traction and help this brand realize its potential in the North American marketplace.”
