Hi-Tec Sports USA and Outdoor Industry Association are partnering to support Carbon Neutral Traveler efforts at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2007. Hi-Tec will give a pair of sandals to the first 100 people on Days 1, 2 and 3 who show their green “Carbon Neutral Traveler” sticker at the Hi-Tec booth.
Hi-Tec Sports USA executed a similar promotion at the last Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, causing a flood of “green travelers” to the Hi-Tec booth and handing out over 350 pair of hiking boots. Curious passers-by were informed about becoming a Carbon Neutral Traveler and directed to the OIA booth to offset their carbon emissions.
This season, Outdoor Industry Association is challenging the outdoor industry to offset 10% of its carbon emissions generated by travel to and from the Outdoor Retailer trade show. Offset prior to Outdoor Retailer by visiting www.outdoorindustry.org and clicking on the “Carbon Neutral Traveler” button. Here you can calculate the carbon emissions produced by your travel and purchase alternative energy credits. Notify OIA that you are a CNT by sending an email to info@outdoorindustry.org. Alternatively, offset your travel during Outdoor Retailer by visiting OIA booth #56000. Either way, all Carbon Neutral Travelers are encouraged to stop by booth #56000 to pick up a CNT badge sticker, which entitles them to participate in various OR “Green Traveler” promotions, including the Hi-Tec sandal giveaway.
