Hanesbrands Inc., the parent of Champion, has reached a settlement with Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall over an endorsement contract that was terminated by the company in 2011, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.

Hanesbrands ended its contract with Mendenhall in May 2011 because of comments he made on Twitter about the death of Osama bin Laden and the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The company said his comments could potentially hurt its Champion brand and were a breach of contract. Mendenhall sued Hanesbrands in July 2011 for $1 million.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed.
