Guru, a cycling brand of Dorel Sports, a division of Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), named Sam Dodge as its global business manager. Dorel Sports’ cycling brands include Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Caloi, IronHorse, Kid Trax, Charge, Guru, Fabric and Sugoi.

Dodge, who was previously the senior sales manager for Guru, will be responsible for managing the company’s direction.

“As the depth and breadth of product increases, proper bike fit is becoming increasingly important and we look forward to Sam driving the development of new and cutting-edge technologies,” said Scott Rittschof, senior vice president of global marketing and product development for cycling sports group.

Dodge started his career in the outdoor industry as an independent tech rep for snowshoes and skis in the New England territory. He joined CSG in 2005 as inside sales representative for Cannondale, servicing IBDs from Alaska to Long Island. After four years, he moved into the role of handling key accounts, where he was responsible for selling Cannondale, GT and Schwinn.

Most recently, Dodge held the title of senior sales manager for Guru, responsible for sales and marketing, as well as working directly with manufacturers to deliver Guru products to market.

Guru will be further supporting the brand’s training and education efforts with the appointment of Jonathan Blyer as head of fit education. Blyer, owner and operator of Acme Bicycle Co. in Brooklyn, NY, will now be responsible for creating and co-teaching the Guru Fit Academy curriculum along with the full team of Guru Fit Advisors.

“Being a business owner who has built a business around bike fit, I can use my experience to help prepare our Guru Fit Academy students for the problems they will encounter on a day-to-day basis,” said Blyer.
