Gucci appointed Tancredi Vitale, a former executive at Nike and Adidas, as VP, Gucci Racing, a new platform launched in May, supported by a new title sponsorship of the Alpine Formula One Team.
A
ssuming the position on September 1, Vitale will work closely with Giovanni Perosino, who will continue to lead the new business area as SVP, Gucci Racing, while retaining his responsibilities as SVP of Marketing.
Vitale joins Gucci after serving as managing director at Venezia Football Club from January 2025 to May 2026.
From July 2009 to May 2024, he worked for Nike, starting as a brand merchandising director for Nike Italy. His most recent roles at Nike included global VP/GM, Nike and Jordan Brands/Express Lane; global VP, Nike Women’s Sport Lifestyle Apparel; and global VP, Nike Sportswear Men’s Apparel.
Prior to Nike, Vitale was at Adidas for just over five years, with his last role being head of the ‘Global Go-to-Market’ department, Y-3. Earlier in his career, he also held roles at BasicNet SpA, the parent of Kappa and Jesus Jeans, and at Replay.
“Vitale’s international experience, strategic vision and deep knowledge of the sports industry will be invaluable as Gucci develops this new venture and unlocks the full potential of Gucci Racing as a global platform,” Gucci, part of the Kering Group, said in a media statement.
In May, Gucci announced it had signed on as title partner of the Alpine Formula 1 Race team, marking the first time a luxury fashion house would serve as a title partner for an F1 team and ending Alpine’s long-term partnership with water treatment company BWT.
Beginning with the 2027 season, the team will compete in Gucci colors under the banner Gucci Racing Alpine Formula 1 Team.
