Green Guru, a leading manufacturer of fashionably functional ecologic adventure gear, will be collecting old bicycle inner tubes at the Interbike Outdoor Demo & Trade Show Sept. 18 to 20.

There will be multiple upcycling bins throughout the demo area. These bins will divert all the blown tubes from the event from the landfill. These tubes will then be upcycled into new bike gear.

Since 2007, Green Guru has been dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint by using upcycled bicycle inner tubes to create distinctive and aestheticallypleasing bike bags, accessories and backpacks.

Most of the upcycled materials are collected through recycling programs established at bike shops and outfitters across the nation. The program's success relies on conscious outdoor enthusiasts to do their part to preserve the planet by upcycling their old bicycle inner tubes instead of throwing them away.

Interbike expo attendees will have the opportunity to bring their old tubes to the show and drop them in the upcycling bins at our outdoor demo or at the Green Guru booth. If you plan to demo a bike, be sure to save any blown tubes and put them into the upcycling bins on the course, at the Outdoor Demo and Paddock or at our booth: #15125.
Green Guru’s inner tube recycling program has been growing at a rapid pace, as an avid cyclist can go through two to three tubes per year. In 2012, Green Guru upcycled more than 20k pounds of bike tubes; thats close to 75k tubes which are made from butyl rubber that will never decompose in landfill.

Green Guru has more than 85 collection partners, including leading bike shops along with Kenda ,QBP and J&B Importers. The company is always looking for new collection partners to help minimize waste and preserve the environment where we love to recreate.

Aside from bike tubes, Green Guru also collects other materials including climbing rope, banner, tents, and wetsuits. Green Guru also partnered with Interbike to create custom notebooks for IBD Summit from last year’s trade show banners.
