Grayl, Seattle-based manufacturer of award-winning water filters and purifiers, recently expanded its presence nationally through the strategic hiring of external sales representatives. Grayl has hired Push Sales and Marketing, Four Horsemen Sales, and Wittman Sports Group partnering with Decker & Associates and Bill Wolfe.

Managed by Shawn Penrod internally, the agencies have brought additional reach and new retailers to Grayl in the last few months. Penrod joined Grayl as Sales Director this spring.

“As a growing brand that uses advanced technology and a unique way of filtering water that is different from everyone else in the category, we need those reps on the front lines to help tell our story and educate and support our retailers.  GRAYL has an amazing product that solves numerous issues with water safety and single-use plastic bottle waste across the globe. Our goal with our sales reps is to expand the GRAYL voice in the marketplace and to educate consumers and retail staff on our products and our brand,” said Penrod.

Push is managed by Danny Barone and Axel Geittmann, who collectively have over 23 years in the territory focused on the outdoor, bike, specialty retailer, box store, and specialty run markets. “GRAYL is one of the most innovative and exciting new products I've seen in a while. I'm glad to be a part of this endeavor and am excited to see what the future holds for such an intriguing brand,” said Barone. Push also represents Smith, Suncloud Optics and Forecast Optics.

Four Horsemen Sales represents Grayl in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. With a strong reach in the snow sports and adventure communities, Four Horsemen Sales also represents Burton Snowboards, anon. optics, Analog, XSories, and Roark Revival.

Wittman Sportsgroup (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennesee), with Decker & Associates (Virginia, D.C., Maryland) and Bill Wolfe (Florida), has a combined 50 years of experience in the Action Sports/Outdoor Business.  The team represents brands such as Adidas Outdoor, Helly Hansen, KUHL, Gore Bike Wear, LUCI, and Ride.

Grayl transforms personal water filtration into “something that works: a fun, easy-to-use Water Filtration Cup that makes safe, clean drinking water wherever you go.” Grayl makes water treatment for every occasion, whether that be at the tap, on the trail, or when facing the rigors of international travel. The Tap Filter removes many chemicals and heavy metals. The Trail Filter adds protection from bacteria and protozoan cysts. The Travel Purifier provides the ultimate defense against viruses. Cartridges are good for 300 16oz uses, and are recyclable through the company.

Grayl won the Science Channel’s first episode of their new startup-themed series “All-American Makers” in January of this year. GRAYL also won a Core77 notable award and the Eco-Excellence award from NCW. GRAYL was selected as Men’s Journal’s Top 50 Gear of 2015, Outside Magazine Top Hiking Tech in Spring 2014, and 50 Campfires Top Gear 2014. Grayl also won the Innovation Award at the Chicago Housewares show in 2014 and was one of Geekwire's “Seattle 10” most innovative startups.
