Kahtoola, a specialist in winter traction gear, announced its new partnership with the Gore-Tex brand for the 6th Annual Agassiz Uphill Race at the Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ.  W. L. Gore & Associates will serve as the new title sponsor for the event on Feb. 9, 2013.

“This race is a perfect fit for our new Gore-Tex Active product for fast Alpine ascent and for footwear with Gore-Tex Extended comfort technology.  We are honored to extend our long standing association with Camp Colton to include the sponsorship for the Agassiz Uphill,” said Tom Boyle, Gore Strategic Marketing.  “Working together with Kahtoola to improve the lives of the youth in the Flagstaff community is consistent with the core values of our Enterprise.”

“Gore leads the way in the outdoor category in comfort and protection. Partnering alongside a company with such a solid standing presents an exciting opportunity that will benefit thousands of Flagstaff children who will participate in the Camp Colton experience,” said Hilary Childs, Kahtoola associate. “This year, we have set a goal to raise $10,000 for Camp Colton through this event. Working with a brand like the Gore-Tex brand will help grow this race into the best uphill competition in the country in support of outdoor education.”

The Kahtoola Agassiz Uphill race involves 150 racers participating in a 2.5-mile round trip course that winds up and down (an approximate 2,000-foot elevation gain/loss) the groomed slopes of the Arizona Snowbowl. Racers use the traction of their choice – snowshoes, skis with skins, Microspikes or crampons. To register for the race or for more information, please visit www.KahtoolaAgassizUphill.com
