Goody's Family Clothing reported total sales for the fiscal month of November 2003 of $121.7 million,
an increase of 5.5% from total sales of $115.4 million for the fiscal month of November 2002. Comparable store sales
for November 2003 increased 1.3% when compared with November 2002. Total sales for the ten months ended November 29, 2003, increased 3.0% to $979.6 million
from $951.3 million for the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the first ten months of fiscal 2003 increased 2.1% over the same period last
year.

“The comparable store sales increase for November 2003 marks the ninth
consecutive month of positive comparable store sales increases this year,”
said Robert M. Goodfriend, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe
unseasonably warm weather during two weeks of the month had a negative impact
on our business. However, sales improved with cooler weather during the busy
Thanksgiving Day selling period, resulting in a comparable store sales
increase for the month. In an effort to build sales momentum going into the
holiday period, we increased our promotional efforts during the month of
November compared with last year and our plan. Overall inventory levels at the
end of the month, on a per-square-foot basis, were similar to those maintained
at the same time last year.”
