According to Golf DataTech, golf rounds played were up 0.8 percent during August in the U.S. Public access play was up 0.9 percent and private course activity was up 0.7 percent.

There were 3,810 contributing golf courses used in the report.

By region, the biggest gain came in the Mid Atlantic, up 9.6 percent; followed by South Central, 4.9 percent; New England, up 3.5 percent;   and South Atlantic, 1.0 percent.

Declines were seen in Pacific, down 2.2 percent; Mountain, 0.7 percent; West North Central, 2.0 percent; and East North Central, 2.8 percent.
