Golf Rounds Slide in June

According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds played on a national level were down 2.0 percent in June 2015 compared to
June 2014. Public access play was down 1.1 percent and private course activity
was down 5.3 percent.

The biggest decline came in New England, down 7.4 percent. Other declining regions include South Central, 5.4 percent; South Atlantic, 2.7 percent; Mid Atlantic, 3.2 percent; West North Central, up 3.6; and East North Central, down 0.3 percent.

The two positive regions were Pacific, up 0.2 percent; and Mountain, ahead 5.6 percent;

Year-to-date golf rounds played nationally are ahead 0.6 percent.

According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds for the U.S, were down 2.1% in June 2010 versus June 2009 and are now down 2.7% on a YTD basis.


Public access play was down 2.0% for the month and private course activity was down 2.4%.  A total of 3,800 courses are represented in this report.


By region, the biggest declines in June came in the West North Central, -7.3%; Pacific, -5.2%; South Central, -4.6%; East North Central, -3.5%; and South Atlantic,  -2.2%; Mountain, -1.0%. Gains were seen in New England, 9.9%; and the Mid Atlantic, 6.2%.
