Dick’s Sporting Goods took another step in its path towards producing all products seen on its retail floor. The company acquired the Maxfli brand and all its related trademarks from TaylorMade-adidas Golf. Dick’s, however, will be starting from ground zero with the brand as both the popular Noodle trademark and all golf ball patents will remain securely in the hands of TMaG. The sale took effect February 11, 2008, but financial details were not disclosed

Sources at TMaG report that the company will carry forward with Noodle branded balls though no longer under the Maxfli banner.

The deal comes at a curious time for TaylorMade-adidas Golf as the company launched an adidas branded line of accessories at the recent PGA Merchandise show. Balls were not included in the launch, but gloves, bags and the other usual suspects were. However, the company did not want to associate the departure of the Maxfli brand and the introduction of adidas in any way.

For Dick’s Sporting Goods, the deal adds another brand to its golf program, which already includes the Slazenger and Walter Hagen brands.
