The Glukos Company Inc., a natural performance energy foods brand, announced renowned natural products industry advisor and investor Brad Barnhorn has joined its board of directors.

Barnhorn brings 25 years of company-building experience as an entrepreneur, CEO and management consultant to his Board work with a select set of leading growth-stage companies in the food and beverage space including Krave Jerky, KeVita, Rhythm SuperFoods, Zola and Health Warrior. Barnhorn is previously the founder and former CEO of Fantasia Fresh Juice Co., which he rapidly built into the leading super-premium fresh juice/smoothie company, culminating in its merger with Naked Juice and subsequent sale to Pepsi.

“Brad Barnhorn brings incredible institutional knowledge and insight on scaling breakthrough consumer food and beverage brands that will ensure Glukos is taking the necessary steps to reach its full potential,” said Mick McCormick, president and CEO at Glukos.  “The Glukos product provides scientifically proven advantages over our competitive set and is made from all-natural ingredients.  Brad has successfully navigated this journey before and his insight will be invaluable moving forward.”

Glukos performance energy products are available in ready to drink, gel, powder, tablet, gummy and bars. Glukos’ all-natural formula includes water, glucose and electrolytes like potassium and sodium.  It acts like an oral IV as it is absorbed into the bloodstream when entering the mouth. Glucose is the only fuel the human body uses. Competitive products contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, which actually creates lactic acid, and triglycerides in the muscles that hurt performance and recovery, or caffeine, which artificially increases the heart rate and causes dehydration.

“Glukos is a category-changing product platform that meets today’s consumer demand for healthier performance nutrition products,” said Barnhorn. “Glukos has the ability to naturally enhance the performance of athletes and everyday, active people around the world who are looking for the most out of life.”

In addition to Barnhorn’s board work with leading consumer brands, he actively partners with premier firms in the growth stage, investment community as an Operating Advisor to consumer products focused private equity funds Encore Consumer Capital, Winona Capital and Fundamental Capital, and an Industry Advisor to investment bankers Silverwood Partners.  Barnhorn holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and resides in San Francisco and Sonoma County.
