Giant CEO Tony Lo recently flew to Los Angeles to celebrate the grand opening of a 3,000-square-foot Giant Partner Store in Rowland Heights by Hank Ku.

The store is located in the heart of a large Asian community 23 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Hank has dreamt of opening his own bicycle retail business in the United States.

“I worked bike retail in southern CA, and I helped develop stores for other bike brands when I lived in Taiwan,” he said. “Now, with Giant Rowland Heights, I have the store I’ve always wanted.”

Hank worked with Giant USA’s Retail Merchandising specialists to create a professional, inviting retail space with wall coverings, graphics, and messaging featuring the Giant and Liv brands.

“Our new store model perfectly blended with Hank’s unique opportunity to open a store that serves all types of riders,” said Reuben Hernandez, Giant National Retail Services Manager.  “The bikes and gear are easy to shop, there’s a dedicated Liv women’s area, and the wide open Service Department allows customers to see the professional work environment the moment they enter the store.”

“I met Giant CEO Tony Lo years ago, while I was working in Taiwan,” recalled Hank. “When I told him of my dream to spread the Giant brand to this community around Rowland Heights, he was very supportive. The Chinese characters on my store sign translate to ‘Giant.’ I knew that would be instantly familiar to the Asian population in the region.”

Tony Lo flew from Taiwan to attend the Giant Rowland Heights grand opening. “It was an honor to have him here,” said Hank. “He is as pleased and excited as I am with the way the store looks.”
