Mountain Gear, a fast growing industry leading direct marketing company specializing in high-end outdoor apparel and equipment in Spokane, WA is looking for a General Merchandise Manager to plan, develop and implement overall merchandising programs for each marketing channel of Mountain Gear and relevant divisions, including catalogs, websites and physical retail locations, resulting in consumer demand and contributions to profit.

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, develops and implements overall merchandising programs for each marketing channel of Mountain Gear and relevant divisions, including catalogs, websites and physical retail locations, resulting in consumer demand and contributions to profit. Directs Merchandise Planning team to meet objectives within deadlines. Works closely with Inventory Management and Production teams to ensure successful implementation and execution of each initiative.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the overall profitability of merchandise assortment plans.
  • Analyzes marketplace and identifies trends in order to develop new, industry-leading merchandising strategies; attends trade shows.
  • Directs Merchandise Planners to develop cohesive and compelling merchandise assortments tailored to specific marketing channels and promotional efforts.
  • Responsible for developing overall catalog layout plans and visual merchandising efforts to maximize sales potential.
  • Works to maintain and enhance vendor relationships, ensuring mutual goals of profitability and promotional and/or brand positioning are met.
  • Works closely with Inventory Management team to establish open-to-buy parameters and to ensure success of supply chain process.
  • Provides direction to Production team on overall vision for catalog and web merchandise assortment plans; coordinates closely regarding deadlines for each effort.
  • Meets with Retail team for feedback on optimizing merchandise assortment; works with MP’s to develop effective floor merchandising and displays.
  • Plans sale and promotional merchandise assortments in conjunction with distressed inventory to maximize profitability on inventory exit strategies. Works with MP’s to identify and secure opportunity buys of discontinued vendor inventories.
  • Responsible for sourcing and developing proprietary or branded merchandise as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ Years catalog assortment planning and/or retail merchandising
  • 3+ Years supervisory experience
  • Good understanding of outdoor products and marketplace
  • Excellent communication skills
