Since Oct. 3, non-profit program Gear to Grow has been “Calling All Poles” across the United States a 60-day campaign aimed to collect gently used or surplus poles from retailers, manufacturers, and the general public. In order to restock its tent pole inventory in its warehouse, Gear to Grow is asking participants to donate surplus or gently broken tent poles to help outfit more than 70 of its beneficiary groups with full tent sets.
Since the launch of the campaign, Gear to Grow has reached out to retailers across the country to serve as official collection sites for the “Calling All Poles” tent pole drive. Participants are now able to drop off poles at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, CO, Tahoe Mountain Sports in Kings Beach, CA, or at any of the Great Outdoor Provision Company’s seven locations in North Carolina. Participants can also ship poles directly to the Gear to Grow warehouse or provide a monetary donation of $10 securely through Gear to Grow’s web site that will be used to purchase new pole sets.
“This campaign is not only aimed to recycle and reuse old poles, but it will also help give more people the resources to get outdoors and recreate,” said JT VonLunen, co-founder of Gear to Grow. “We encourage outdoor enthusiasts across the country to donate their surplus or old poles and support more than 70 non-profit groups across the United States.”
The “Calling All Poles” campaign is open for 60 days.
