Turner Media Group inked an agreement with Gander Mountain Company to launch a new iTV program on Men’s Outdoors & Recreation TV called “Gander Mountain Lodge.” The program will be nationally televised twice a week during prime time offering hunting, fishing and outdoor products for sale to viewers and incorporating interactive trigger ads for iTV-enabled homes.

Gander management said that the program is designed to drive additional traffic to their retail locations and offer direct sales. The program will be on DISH Network satellite TV and select regional cable TV systems including Time Warner, Bright House, and others.

Programs will feature experts who talk about the product and explain features/benefits. This is one more strategy for Gander Mountain to sell their Guide Series of private label equipment and apparel through additional distribution channels. In May, Gander finalized an agreement with Camping World to sell Guide Series on their website. During a conference call with analysts and the media, Gander CEO Mark Baker said, “We want to be available to our customers in all of the channels in which they shop.”

Gander is prevented from marketing through catalogs or the internet to consumers under the Gander Mountain name due to a court enforced agreement with Cabela’s. However, the Guide Series name and GuideSeries.com are not trademarks listed under that agreement.

“Gander Mountain is constantly seeking new ways to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts,” said Mark Baker, CEO, Gander Mountain Company. “…We can transact and interact with the outdoors enthusiast at a level no one else in the outdoors TV market can duplicate. We also see Gander Mountain Lodge potentially changing the way we reach our target audience to brand our products and publicize store openings and promotions.”
