The SportsOneSource Group has appointed sporting goods and outdoor industry veteran Paul Gagner as president of the newly formed Sports & Outdoor Group.  Gagner, who joined The SportsOneSource Group in October 2010, was named VP and general manager for the company’s research business in January 2011. In his new role Gagner has added responsibility for the company’s sports and outdoor media business.

“Paul has been a significant catalyst for the growth of the SOS Research business over the last year,” said James Hartford, founder, CEO and Chief Market Analyst for The SportsOneSource Group.  “The company’s core research business notched a 25 percent increase in 2011 and much of that increase can be directly attributed to Paul’s efforts.  His organizational skills, competitive spirit and drive to over-deliver on the needs of our clients make him uniquely qualified to lead this organization.”

Gagner is a 30-year veteran of the outdoor and sporting goods market.  Prior to The SportsOneSource Group, Gagner ran a successful consulting business, {assisting companies with strategic and organizational assessments and plans}.  He was previously president of Sierra Designs at the Boulder Outdoor Specialty Group, a division of American Recreation, and was VP sales at Gregory Mountain Products prior to that role.

Gagner manages the company’s Boulder office, which is now home to the SOS Sports & Outdoor Group.  The company will continue to expand its presence in Boulder with all Sports & Outdoor Group business development, service and support now reporting into Gagner.  He joins Hartford, Chief Information Officer Mark Fine and Creative Director Teresa Hartford on the company's executive management team.

“We look forward to another strong year ahead as we expand our capabilities beyond our traditional markets,” said Hartford.  “The company’s expanded digital media and mobile research strategy, along with the release of SportScanInfo 4.0 and OIA VantagePoint 2.0 this spring, will require thoughtful driven leadership.  Paul fits that profile.”
