Wilson Sporting Goods and Fruit of the Loom have signed a licensing agreement to produce Wilson-branded athletic apparel for the mid-tier retail market. Under the agreement, Fruit of the Loom will manufacture and distribute Wilson-branded athletic tops and bottoms in adult, women’s and youth sizes in basic cotton and cotton fleece. The agreement gives Wilson the ability to leverage its brand in the mid-tier apparel market.

“Wilson is entering the T-shirt and fleece market in a strong position as The Authentic Sports Brand in America,” says Kevin McTernan, director of uniforms for Wilson. “We’re very pleased with the partnership, as Fruit of the Loom offers Wilson outstanding quality and established distribution to mid-tier retailers.”

“The Wilson brand provides Fruit of the Loom the opportunity to enter the Sports Specialty and Mid-Tier channels with an authentic athletically inspired line that has top of the line consumer brand recognition,” says Jim Corbett, vice president-sports markets for Fruit of the Loom.

Wilson commands substantial brand recognition as the Official NFL Game Ball, the Official Glove of Major League Baseball, and the Official Football and Basketball of the NCAA. The company believes its reputation among athletes and fans will drive sales of the new apparel line.
