Fleet Feet will open its newest Miami-based retail store this week in North Miami Beach, located in the SkyLake shopping center, marking the second Fleet Feet franchise to open in the state, overseen by franchisees Pablo and Susan Martinez.
Fleet Feet said in a media release that the “Martinezes opened their first Miami Fleet Feet franchise in December 2024, and within six months, reportedly hosted more than 10 local events as part of a strong focus on customer service and collaboration with like-minded brands.” Their success has reportedly “accelerated the Fleet Feet brand’s expansion in the region by quickly raising their profile in the community.”
Pablo is originally from Guatemala, while Susan hails from South Africa. Each immigrated to the U.S. over 25 years ago and has called Miami home ever since.
Pablo was first introduced to the Fleet Feet brand at The Running Event (TRE. With eight years of triathlon experience, opening the Miami location in 2024 was a “natural move forward for expanding his passion into the running industry.” In addition to Fleet Feet, the company reports that “Pablo and his siblings are joint owners of fruit and flower farms in Guatemala with exports sold across the U.S.”
The Martinezes’ son, Pablo, Jr., is actively involved with the daily operations of the franchise, “reinforcing Fleet Feet’s small business approach to supporting and uplifting the neighborhoods they serve,” the company continued.
“Miami is a vibrant, ever-expanding city with an avid running population and culture,” said Pablo Martinez, Sr. “We saw the need for a consumer experience-driven focus within the community and knew that the Fleet Feet brand would be well-positioned to capitalize on this.”
“It’s impossible not to feel the positive energy for the Miami running community when you’re around Pablo and Susan,” said Jason Jabaut, chief operating officer at Fleet Feet. “Opening a second location in less than a year speaks to the demand for specialty running stores that put community first. As lifelong Miami residents with deep local ties, their leadership reflects a commitment to investing in the neighborhoods they call home.”
