Five Below Inc. Taps Former Macy’s/Bloomies SVP/GMM as Chief Merchant

Five Below, Inc. has hired Michelle Israel, formerly of Macy’s, as chief merchandise officer, and Daniel Sullivan, formerly of Edgewell Personal Care, as chief financial officer.

Both executives will report to Winnie Park, chief executive officer, Five Below, Inc.

Michelle Israel was SVP, general merchandise manager at Macy’s, overseeing the Beauty, Shoes, Handbags, Jewelry, Intimate Apparel, and Fashion Accessories businesses. Before that, Israel was SVP, off-price at Bloomingdale’s, and then at Macy’s Backstage, after working for Bloomingdale’s for 20 years. She was most recently a senior strategic advisor at Consensus Advisors, AllWork Platform and Emerging Brands. She has also been an active member of the Board of Directors at Spenser’s and Fish’s Eddy.

Israel is responsible for Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Product Sourcing, and Product Development as well as Quality and Compliance.

Dan Sullivan most recently served as EVP and COO at Edgewell Personal Care, a global consumer products company. Previously, he served as CFO at Party City, CFO at Ahold USA and SVP and chief financial and operating officer at Heineken USA for a 12-year period.

Sullivan is responsible for Five Below’s financial operations and related strategies, overseeing its Finance, Information Technology and Asset Protection teams.

“I’d also like to thank Ken Bull, who will continue as our chief operating officer, for his partnership and stepping in to lead as interim CFO during this transition period,” Park continued.
