The Finish Line, Inc. broke ground Tuesday on a $20 million expansion to its Indianapolis, Indiana-based corporate headquarters and distribution center. Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson took part in the ceremony.

“This is a monumental day for us, and we were honored to have Mayor Peterson here taking part in the ceremony,” said Finish Line President and CEO Alan Cohen. “This expansion is integral in helping Finish Line grow to a 700 to 800-store chain in the United States.”

The Finish Line expansion project is due in part to partnerships with the city of Indianapolis, local architects, contractors and engineers who have worked together in an effort to boost the economy of the far eastside.

“Today’s groundbreaking is a positive step forward for the far eastside of Indianapolis,” Mayor Peterson said. “Id like to thank Finish Line, a homegrown company, for their commitment to Indianapolis, to using local contractors and to improving the eastside’s economy and its neighborhoods.”

Mayor Peterson assisted Finish Line founders Alan Cohen, Larry Sablosky, and David Klapper, Finish Line CFO and COO Steve Schneider, and Len Wolfson and Dick Young of Wolfson Young Construction in the ground breaking. The ceremony also included a check presentation to the Community Alliance of the Far Eastside (C.A.F.E.). Finish Line Youth Foundation President Larry Sablosky presented a check for $5,000 to C.A.F.E. for their summer youth program.
