FGL Sports saw retail sales increase 13.7 percent to CAN$398.9 million in the second quarter ended June 30, according to earnings released by its parent company Canadian Tire Corp.


 


Canadian Tire reported that same-store sales at FGL Sports grew 8.2 percent on top of 7.4 percent growth reported for the same quarter a year ago. FGL's flagship banner Sport Chek, where same-store sales grew 10.8 percent, continued to set the pace. The strong sales performance was led by both men’s and women’s athletic and casual apparel, incremental sales of FIFA World Cup apparel, cycling, fitness and team sports apparel.


 







 

FGL Sports also owns Hockey Experts, Sports Experts, National Sports, Intersport, Pro Hockey Life and the outdoor specialty chain Atmosphere.
