Federated Department Stores, Inc. reported total sales of $1.437 billion for the five weeks ended July 2, 2005, a 3.1% increase compared to total sales of $1.394 billion in the same period last year. Federated's comparable store sales for the month of June were up 2.9%.
For the year-to-date period, Federated's sales totaled $6.267 billion, an increase of 2.3% compared to total sales of $6.126 billion in the same period last year. Federated's year-to-date compsales also were up 2.3%.
Federated expects a 1% to 2% same-store sales increase for the month of July, with second quarter same-store sales anticipated to increase by 1.5% to 2%. The company continues to anticipate that same-store sales for the fall season (combined third and fourth quarters) will increase by 3%.
