Hong Kong-based performance footwear brand Mount to Coast hired running shoe veteran Mike Ambrose as its first global product line manager. Ambrose has worked in the endurance industry since 2015, including footwear roles at Nnormal, Black Diamond, and Salomon.
He is based in Salt Lake City, UT.
In his new role, Ambrose will collaborate closely with the brand’s co-founders and Hong Kong-based leadership, helping to guide the brand’s growing number of road, trail, and hybrid offerings.
“I’m excited to join a company that believes in creating the best products for all runners,” said Ambrose. “Mount to Coast shoes are built for long-distance running, but by building shoes for long distances, the brand has made some incredibly attractive, responsive, light, and comfortable shoes that last for many miles – features that benefit all runners. I see enormous potential for Mount to Coast to bring their unique focus to other segments of the market and to more runners. I’m honored to join a team with this much experience and I look forward to supporting their work.”
Mount to Coast was established in 2024 by a leadership team that includes Yeti Zhang, a former senior manager, footwear innovation – Asia, for Brooks Running. The brand has become particularly popular with ultra runners, with its best-selling hybrid H1 model taking seven of the top ten spots at the 2026 Cocodona 250.
“As our product line grows, having Mike on our team will help ensure that we never lose our focus on solving problems for all kinds of runners,” said Mount to Coast Co-Founder and Head of Product Zhang. “Athletes have come to trust us because they know that our shoes are built with the care and attention needed to solve the unique challenges presented by long races on roads or trails. We’re excited to have Mike’s help in maintaining this focus on athletes and their needs, especially as we expand our product line.”
