Xebio Holdings Co., Ltd., the largest sporting goods and athletic apparel retailer in Japan, reported sales in the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 rose 6.1 percent to ¥68,242 million ($428 mm).

Operating profit reached ¥3,949 million, a gain of 38.7 percent year over year.  Ordinary profit totaled ¥4,200 million versus ¥2,925 million a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of parent was ¥2,819 million against ¥288 million a year ago.

Xebio operates over 900 stores in Japan, including about 170 larger-format Super Sports XEBIO stores and several niche banners.  Other banners include Golf Partner, Victoria Golf, Victoria, L-Breath, Xebio Sports Express and NEXAS.
