The Oberalp Group, which owns Salewa, Dynafit, Pomoca, Wild Country and Evolv, has hired William (Bill) Sinoff as general manager of Evolv climbing shoes. As general manager of Evolv, based in Los Angeles, CA, Sinoff has the global responsibility for Evolv, defining and implementing strategies aimed at growing the brand and business.

Sinoff will start on January 6, 2020.

Sinoff has 20 years of experience in business development, sales, and general management in both private and publicly held companies. He has a strong background with leading brands in the outdoor industry, including national sales management roles at Black Diamond and Ex Officio and a long-time sales role at Patagonia. For the past five years, Sinoff was the general manager at bigtruck brand, a leading American headwear and accessory brand.

While at bigtruck, Sinoff grew the brand significantly across direct, wholesale, and international channels while establishing one of the outdoor industry’s most visible co-branding business platforms. As GM of bigtruck, Sinoff successfully prepared and led the organization for a capital raise, established a Board of Directors, and created a full complement of organizational governance.

Sinoff’s responsibilities as the Evolv GM encompasses brand management, North American and international sales and marketing including the resoling and retail businesses, product design and development oversight, supply chain, and production. Sinoff will manage the Evolv team and have administrative oversight of the Los Angeles office while sharing resources with Oberalp North America’s Boulder office for functions such as Accounting & Administration, Demand Planning, Dealer and Customer Service, and Warehousing.

“The Evolv brand has a rich history of creating high-performance climbing shoes for the urban and outdoor climbing communities,” said Drew Saunders, Country Manager for Oberalp North America. “Bill has an ideal combination of being a passionate climber and a business and sales leader with a track record of building high-performance outdoor brands. He brings a unique skill set and expertise to this new role, and we are confident that we can take the business and brand to the next level under his leadership.”

“I have always admired Brian Chung and Evolv as a high-quality, premium, technical brand and believe it holds significant untapped growth potential,” Sinoff said. “I look forward to leading the Evolv team in LA and working with our teammates in Boulder and around the world to provide market-leading climbing shoes that meet the needs of climbers everywhere.”

“Adding Bill as GM of our Evolv team is going to be a major boost in taking the brand to the next level globally. His extensive professional experience developing outdoor brands, coupled with his passion for climbing, is exactly what we need. I am excited to work with Bill on the next chapter of the Evolv story.”
