The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has confirmed the details of five new members from the retail sector, including the first online only businesses to join the association.
The companies that have been welcomed to the EOG are the Frasteya Group (best known for Sport Montagnes and Ekosport) and Snowleader.com from France, Internetstores (Campz, Addnature, Fahrrad.de and others) and FR Bergfreunde from Germany, and Swiss retailer DE Ochsner Sport (part of the Deichmann organisation).
Founded in 2003 by 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, the EOG now has 75 full members, plus 10 associate members.
Last year, the EOG took the decision to accept retailers as members and several leading names from the sector have joined. With the addition of internet only businesses, the association now has an even broader membership base, representing the whole outdoor industry across Europe.
“We decided to join the EOG because Snowleader is constantly growing in European markets, and it means that we now have to deal with European retailers and suppliers,” said Thomas Rouault, CEO and owner of Snowleader.com. “EOG gives a real voice to retailers – that’s why we chose to join the association. Brands and retailers have to talk together and the EOG gives the opportunity to share ideas and to find common solutions to understand the market evolution. EOG is a breeding ground for these exchanges, creating quality debate and added value.”
The European Outdoor Group cooperates with members and stakeholders on a
range of initiatives, such as industry representation, market research,
responsibility, increasing outdoor sports participation, and trade
events.
